Well tommorow morning, I will be going to the junkyards looking for four new doors and a trunk lid for the 91... going to get it ready for paint.... It will be going in the shop around July 7th for the new paintjob... The doors are all rusting near the bottom, since it was on Pensacola Beach for so long... (EVERYTIME you run thru a puddle... it has salt in it...) The trunklid is also rusting at the bottom because of the chrome strip across the bottom of the trunk lid...The new trunk lid will get sealed, so the water can't run down inside, behind the chrome, and sit there and rust. So I figured it would be easier to replace the doors and trunk lid instead of trying to sand blast and repair them... since rust will just come right back... Whats weird, these two places is the only rust on the entire car!
I have two front doors from an 88 model... That look brand new... But it is manual windows, and mine is electric... So I will probably just try to trade these with the junkyard, or sell them out right... They look brand new... But I am not sure about swapping the window regulators / motors... And if the door speakers will be able to be converted, as the 91's sort of hang on the door, the older ones were mounted IN the door... So not sure if that will fit... and the door locks are a little different from 88.... So I figure it will be easier just to get some electric window doors from a 90 or 91... and maybe doors with electric locks too... since mine doesn't have them... I will see what I can find tommorow...
Another change is HOPEFULLY a friend of mine at the Sheriff's Office is going to get me some Sheriff's Office "Stars" for the doors... And then I will buy the rest of the decals, to show it as a Sheriff's Office car when I go to Chicago.... If not, I can still show it as a Fire Chief's car.... But I would like to show it as a Sheriff's Office car, since that is what it was to begin with.... Before they gave it to the Fire Dept...
Wish me luck!!!
