Trunk Latch

Hello

I just migrated over from CVN.net.

Here's my question, since I got the car 50,000 miles ago I've had to replace the trunk latch once, and I'm about to have to replace it again. It gets to the point where the latch 'jams' and the key will not turn it. It appears that the plastic cam in the latch wedges sideways causing the jam. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

use wd-40 or white lithium grease with the straw and shoot that in the lock mechanism to help the key, and use white lithium on the backside on the mechanism to help it not stick as bad. it is considered maintenance like on the door latches and such also shown in the owners manual if you have it. owners manual says to use engine oil, but white lithium grease werks better.

key needs to be turned toward accessory or running/on position to have button to werk. same if you have a gas door release button.

Thanks for all of the input. I have kept the latch and key area lubricated with white lithium. Additionally, I would use my power trunk latch however the solenoid has quit working, along with the ones in the front doors.....

I guess I'll have to break down and buy new power actuators for the trunk.
