I almost bought the blue bulbs so it would give off that clean white look like my headlights and grille lights... but I decided to go with the amber colored ones for now. If I don't like 'em... I'll just grab a set of the blues!
The one thing you have to keep in mind... it's not really going to reflect off the back now. It will a little since I used gloss, but not that much since it's black instead of chrome. Most the color and brightness will be from the bulb itself, and how it spreads across the lens.

I think its a cool idea (painting the inside housing black), and I too will soon be diassembling my lights for a "rebuild".
However, I will be intersted to see how effective they will be. Generally, black absorbs light, and won't make it as bright, as say a reflective silver paint. We need intstalled pics... but they look really nice.

Yea, we put some of those "chrome" bulbs in the lady's Civic. They aren't bad, but I'm using standard ambers for the 194's, and Silverstars for the 1157's.
The Silverstars look clear but have a bluish-greenish tint, and other colors such as purple and orange reflect off the bulbs themselves. They light up amber however, and really stand out behind the clear lens when they're off. I'd put the chrome ones in the other slots, but I only want attention to the 1157's when the lights are off, due to the location they're in. This way it will compliment the lights behind my grille a little better.
To give you an idea of what they're like, here's a picture of one on a GTP...
And this is them in my Bonneville, they're the bulbs closest to the grille. Notice how they look electric blue, but you can still slightly see the amber color reflecting on the chrome behind them.
The weather is supposed to get a little hairy around here next week, and I am definately repainting my grille and headlamp bezels before I put it all back together. The black is getting a little rough, and is due for a fresh coat. I want it to look the best it can when I get the new parking lamps in!
