How do you change the bulb on the opera (coach) lamps on a 90 Grand Marquis?
Blaze
Are there screws on the outside of the lense?
I don't know if those lenses pop off either.
Don't go by this unless someone confirms this...
You might have to access the socket and bulb from the interior. Remove the trim panel that is in between the front and rear doors. 2 screws facing the seats at the bottom. 1 at the top, and 1 on each side. You gotta have the doors open. And you'll have to move the seat to access the screws on the bottom. pull the trim piece back. It won't be going far cause the seat belts running through it. It should come back far enough to twish the socket and pull it back so you can remove the bulb.
No screws that I can see. Its just the standard lamp assembly that they always use. I seen a 87 Crown Victoria once with a longer electroluminscent light like my 88 Fifth Avenue had.

if its the one on the pillars between the doors, try to pop out the top or bottom silver cap. should be a screw under each. at least that was the case on the 79 i just parted.
Yeah its the decorative lights between the doors on the outside that light up when the parking or headlights are on. There doesnt appear to be a screw. Surely someone with a 80-up has had to replace a bulb before.
You could try prying the lense off with a regular screwdriver carefully If it doesn't pop out, don't force it or you'll end up busting the lense.

the white plastic lens snaps into place. you have to be careful since it is old plastic and will break if not careful. i wanna change my lenses out or clean them up to be bright white and use white LEDs in them and for the plate light.
I gotta find my manual so I can tell you how they say to remove them. Pretty sure 87crownvic's right because I recall reading about them snapping into place. I'm scared to mess with mine.

Those things are pretty easy. There is a chrome cap above and below the white lens. Put a small flat screwdriver between the white lens and that chrome cap and pop them off. Careful, the tabs that hold them in place can be fragile. Below those caps is a phillips screw. Remove the top and bottom screw and the whole assembly comes out. The bulb should be accessible from the backside once the assembly is out. The whole process shouldn't take more than about a minute per side.
Oh, if I wasn't clear... the white lens never has to come off. Those chrome caps come off independently and the bulb changes from behind. You could definitely break the lens if you try to remove it. Just remove the whole assembly.
