    Thats one purdy Dizzy...

Well, I was bored at work, and instead of doing something productive like cleaning the shop or organizing my tools, I decided that the distributor from the 91 would look alot better cleaned and painted. I've started cleaning little things here and there in preparation of next years H.O swap/ or H.O conversion. Rest of the cars gonna be ass ugly, but at least the engine bay wil look nice. Painted up my new water pump while I was in the mood also.

The polished finish made it look like a billet unit at a quick glance.

The polished look was the result of cleaning all the hard crap off with a bench wire wheel, then blasting it with brakeclean before masking. I actually thought about leaving it like that, really liked how it looked, but there were alot of spots i couldnt get into with the wire wheel, so I had to use some elbow grease and a handheld wire brush to get the corrosion off, and those spots didnt look near as good.

It still looks really nice the way you did it. What is the color on the wp, and the dist. shaft? Will you be using that elsewhere in the engine bay?

Color on the Wp and the dizzy shaft is Cast coat Iron Duplicolor engine enamel. Blue is Same paintbut in dark Ford blue. Block, heads, valvecovers and timing cover are all gonna be dark for blue, while the wp, upper and lower intake, tb, egr spacer, dizzy shaft, and thermostat housing are gonna be the cast coat iron. I got the valvecovers done. Crappy part is, I allready painted my H.O upper intake in the Cast coat Iron color when I first swapped it onto my 91, but when I transferred it to this car, I painted it with black truck bedliner. I have another H.O upper I'm gonna do though. Heres a pic of the stock Valvecovers I did, before and after shots, and the 19lb injectors that jonnie/scott gave to me all cleaned up. Next in line is the fuel rail I think.

Cast Coat is a really nice color. I had way too much fun painting bits and pieces with it when I was doing my build.

I was about to ask if it was cast-coat iron but you confirmed it. Same color as my distributor is, and mine is painted for the same reason: doesn't look right just cleaned. Its not consistant enough to look right. I painted the intakes for the same reason. I like natural aluminum look, but I hate corroded aluminum and how the pits fill with gunk.

Got mine at AutoZone. One Advance location I used to frequent actually sold PlastiKote, which I sometimes bought because it's easier to coat things with, but I seem to recall them switching mysteriously one day to DupliColor.
