I have never owned an '88-'91 box that has the center black plastic piece (for the front bumper) that holds the license plate. What the hell? Its $40 from Ford. I may be able to get it for less, in which case I may have to buy one. But, then it won't match... I need one from an original car...

I think I harvested one of those for good samuritain long ago - like boxy bumpers i think you need to have holes/slots in the bumper for the 88-91 tag bracket, so youd need the hole bumpers or some If you need me too I could take mine off and check it out, snap a pic

You don't have to go through that trouble, though I appreciate the offer. My car had one originally, but someone removed it somewhere along the line. I have the plate bolted on right now. It would look better with the piece though...

I know they'll bag me for it at the local JY.

          Really?

I'm trying to find the 80-81 Style which does not have the front License Plate Recess on it like the 79,since NC does not require a front plate.

I personally like the plate location in the center of the bumpers myself. If I get another box, I will get what I need to convert it over.

Interesting. So all the '79 bumpers have the notch in the nose for the front license plate? Guess that works fine if you're in Illinois or Alaska where a front plate is required, but in Indiana or Michigan I've got no use for it.

I have 85-89 bumpers. Rears from a Cartier are aluminum. I think all the fronts from 85+ are aluminum. My hood is also aluminum. Those parts would look really stupid on a Crown Vic tho.
