    Tire shine applicator

for those who like to use tire shine from time to time and mostly use gel-type shines, there is a handy tool out there for ya.

I normally would use the applicator that comes with the gel such as Armor All's Extreme shine gel...or Meguiars High Endurance/High Gloss gels.

but there are companies such as Eagle One that make applicators for tire shine...
Eagle One's are dark grey foam and a yellow grip that made from some material I cant identify.
the problem with these applicators is that the tire shine will almost always get on your fingers/hands...that gets very annoying to me..hard to get it off.

but, I was in Advance Auto today getting some tire shine and some Invisible Glass...I even got some PlastX for my buddy(he couldnt find it nowhere) and I saw something that looked interesting.
a tire shine applicator with a Plastic grip. and the sides of it curved out just a bit so that no tire shine will ooze on to your fingers.
98cents for it...I tried it...so far so great!

I recommend it for anyone that uses tire shine gel...or a spray that you use an applicator to spread it around...you know what I mean.
the foam is dark grey and the grip part of it was blue.

I used to use sprays all the time....
but I found they never lasted as long as gels....and if you have chrome wheels like me, the spray likes to leak onto the wheels...not good.

I just use crappy foam applicator and latex gloves. Latex gloves = cheap, and you only need to put the glove on one hand.

well, I just took a nice close look at my tires to see how deep the gloss is...its not that great IMO.
looks like about 1-2 days worth of wear on it and I havent driven it.

I think next time I need tire shine, I'm sticking with the Armor All Extreme Shine Gel....
I always thought Meguiars Hot Shine was good stuff...I used the spray foam before...but the gel I used aint so hot...and I laid it on pretty thick...even rolled the car a little forward to make sure I got all of the tire.

yea, that's where I found them.

yea, scott...I know whatcha mean...that eagle1 squirting applicator shine was like that...leaks all over...I wrapped it in a shop towel and put it in a plastic bag..it soaked the towel and leaked into the bag...I'll stick with bottles.
that armor all extreme shine(orange bottle) has one of those no spill/quick stop caps on it...works great for me...

I think I'm going to email Meguiars about their Hot Shine Gel and tell them politely that I am displeased with it and see if they will refund my money on it.
it took Black Magic over a month to refund my money, but they still did it...for that bottle of Instant Detailer...worked like crap...just smeared everything...and didnt want to buff off...it was like it had too much polish in it.

I'd make sure that Meguiars knows that I love nearly all of their products...like waxes, polishes, quik detailers, etc.

Back in the day my Dad used to use brake fluid for tire shine. Not really my style. If the brake fluid ever "slings off" on the paint you're fucked.

I only shine my tires once in a blue moion. On those occasions I steal my brothers eagle one.
