First off, 86GmLsCoupe, you did a fabulopus job on the floor in your car. the POR 15 and the dynamat! You certainly didn't cheap out. Very nice.

POR 15 is great stuff. I did my front floors (The rear ones looked factory fresh) with that because I have a leak in the firewall that is continually evading me.

I consulted my local paint shop before buying. The stuff can be painted directly over rust. However, if you have clean bare metal, don't paint it right over the mnetal. You have to prime it, with a good self etching primer. Or, you can etch it with acid, and then prime it with a regular primer, followed by the POR 15.

I think it will stick the the bare metal, but that is just what these fools told me. I think they were trying to get my to buy some more shit. I had very light surface rust that I wire brushed. then I just went over top of that with the POR. Worked great.

Also, priming the floors will only work for short term. All primers are porous, which means that it has small holes in the surface. this is where water can get in and eventually lead to rust. NOT GOOD!

Looks good Dave given what you had to start with, if mine were like that I'd have to get someone to weld in a new floor pan for me. Thanks P72Ford, I really like your Vic, reminds me of my dad's old fire car. I like Por15, and you're right about the etching for shiny bare metal. I followed their directions and did the Marine Clean (degreaser) and Metal Ready (Etch Wash) before the Por15. Also tried it on the door edges, cowl and right over some weak rust spots/holes on the trunk lid (no prep) and it stopped the rust from spreading . Por15 is supposed to get stronger with moisture where regular primers weaken with it.

Im hoping this thread will give people insperation to fix there panthers when they get a little rusty rather then just give them up, So far this is 2 box panthers i have saved from the dead, being as how i baught the 2 door from the wreckers i worked at, and the 4 door was rusted enough that most people would have just scraped it,,
I do have one hole in the trunk to fix, but that wont take long at all
