I want to replace the trunklid on my 87' with a newer chunk of metal to match the newer tail lights I have on the car. I don't know if anyone has pulled out the trunk locks from 87-back and 88-up cars but if you have are they interchangeable? I really doubt the junkyard is going to have a key for me to take with the trunk.

I've changed out lock cylinders on both my 87 trunklids,but never tried seeing if a pre-87 Lock cylinder would fit a 88+ trunklid.Only one way to find out for sure!
If you need instructions on getting the lock cylinder out of the old lid or installed back in the new one,let me know,and I'll post up a writeup for ya.

As far as the key goes....a locksmith can most likely help you out with that.
