    When you wash your car...

When you wash your car, how long does it take you from the time you put soap in the bucket, to the last wipe of the Chamois?

I just gave MAGNA a nice bath with some Meguiars Deep Crystal car wash and a sponge...haven't given it one of those in about a month or so...
washed the wheels as well...put some tire shine on afterwards...
    wow..she sure is lookin' great!

took me roughly 1 1/2 hours...

how long does it take you guys to give your car a good wash like this???

*I'll post a few pics tomorrow when the sun is out*

I haven't paid a whole lot of attention, but it takes me awhile...especially when I'm washing the Lincoln since it's got those stupid wire wheel covers. Talk about a pain in the you-know-what to get clean! And I'm not talking just a little dust or something...when you live on a gravel road, the car gets caked with mud every time it rains.

I don't keep track of the time but I figure an hour or so. That's with the truck...The Vic rarely gets washed cuz it just ain't worth it. Unless it's got a bird shit all over like it does now...

Wash+Dry takes me about two hours.

But when I do it I wash the top half, then dry it.
            Front end, then dry it
            Rear End, then dry it
            Doors, then dry it

            Don't want water spots:-p

            And yes...

I work at a dealership. Washes are free. Sometimes I use the quickie drive up, sometimes I go in the detail shop and spend a good hour cleaning.

                  1. Go to the do-it yourself pressure washer stations. Spend about 45min washing the underside, frame, all that happy horse shit.

                  2. Go home rinse car off thouroughly, then wash starting with the roof then hood, trunk, sides, all while rinsing to keep from water spots. Then wipe down with chamois

                  3. Wax starting in same fashon as before, roof, hood, so on

                  done.

Interior and weather stripping is another day.

yea, I dont detail my interior too much...if I do, I just use some quick detailer on the dash and take any trash out of it.

I rinse the car very, very well first... don't want any unnecessary dirt to get rubbed into the finish.

Then I do the roof and windows, then the hood and trunk. Next up is the doors from the molding up.

Then I used a secondary wash thingy to do from the molding down.

The rims are next... I stick my hand in a sock and go over them obsessively. Then I mist the entire car off and dry it, then do the door jambs and wipe the engine down.

                      Figure three hours, maybe longer.

                        that's a bit much..but understandable.
I dried my door jams off too...along with the trunk lid.

Mine takes about 20 minutes. I go to a full-service car wash where this chick I know works who gives me a discount - for 5 bucks Miss Baby gets a pre-wash with a pressure washer, undercarriage wash, tires scrubbed, gentle cloth-strip wash, spot-free rinse and blow-dry. Then they wipe her down with quick-detailer-impregnated microfiber towels (while they're doing that I grab a damp terry towel and wipe the door jambs). Then she gets vacuumed, the windows cleaned inside, and the dash wiped down.

That girl is a certified gearhead. I should marry her.
