Getting work done, should I...... (removing granny chrome)

...take off my lower chrome trim?

Friend of mine is getting all the wrinkles and ding out of the sides of my car, doing some rust work too.

I was thinking, there's rust under a few of my pieces of chrome trim on the bottom of the car, and in the future when I repaint her a different color (which I won't get into right now), I won't want them on there anymore...

So I'll get some opinions. Keep it or toss it?

base model/ police trim looks soooo much better than the granny trim!!!!!

once you take the wide trim off all the bottom, you can get chrome rocker panel covers off a base model, grandmarq, or towncar I think to replace the black one you have.
Also, if you want to keep the fender well trim, you will have to find fender trimm off a base or police vic to mtach not having the wide trim. You wheels well trims stop at the wide trim, to taking the wide trim off leaves a gap that will need to be filled by the base/police trim.

Its all up to you, I have my trim removed as well but its not as simple as just picking it off and tossing it. There are a bunch of studs that hold it on that would need to be removed if you want a nice clean look. I think I'm going to lose my trim at the bottom and just go with the full trim around the wheel well.

I say before you do anything, either you or if you aren't very good, get someone else to photoshop what your car looks like with an without the trim pieces. That way you won't pull em off and decide you liked it better with em on. My

If it helps any, you've never seen an LTD this color before... but that's after I'm done with school. And the new paint is coming with new rims, lol.

If the paint is going to be darker, then go with the base model trim, and remove the trim on the rear quarter-panel. If the future color is going to be more vibrant then just remove it all. The chrome will only blend in with the brighter colors and will not add anything to it. With darker colors it adds a defining edge for the bottom of the car.

lol you're right Ill be needing some more. I should have got what I need off that brown one while it was there... I got the trim for the 85 off the tan one that i think you saw.
