Let's say the paint on a car (93 Grand Caravan) is defective and it peeling off like no ones buisness. How much would it cost to have it stripped of the current paint and repainted at a shop? Has anyone done this sort of thing before? Also, how much would it cost to get the windows tinted?

Depends what you want. If just a quickie scuff n shoot like Maaco or Earl Sheib, you're probably talking maybe $500, if you want actual good paint, bodywork and prep work, it can get into the $1000-$2000 range pretty easily. Depends on how much work you want done and the kind of paint. base/clear is more expensive than simple enamal paint and there is more time involved since there are more total coats applied. Bodywork is expensive too depending on what you want done. Little dings arent major but if there are big dents and such, $$$. Time is money, and a good job takes time.Last edited by gadget73; 11-02-2006, 12:19 AM.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Well, the van itself probably isn't even worth $1000, so I guess a new paintjob is out. My dad says that it's too old and not worth the money to get something like a paintjob.88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)

I will probably do enamal on my car as well. Solid simple colors work fine in enamel. My car will be black again, so it suits me fine. The bodywork to get it smooth again will become annoying though. Every little ding and dent is obvious with black paint. Even with the paint it has now, I can see the tiny little wrinkle on the front driver's side of the hood from where the bumper was over-adjusted and the hood got ever so slightly tweaked. Its either that, or from my fat ass sitting on it. Haven't investigated it close enough to see if the pattern is ass shaped.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
