    Grille Painting

    Hey there guys.

I was thinking about changing the color of my grille...Either a deep red, or black...Not sure how it'll look; I'm having problems picturing it. I was gonna try to get to the junk yard and grab a grille I could use for the new color so that I can easily revert back to the old look.

If it looks good, the trim around the headlights would come next.

How do you recommend I go about painting it?

I'd leave it chrome...or just paint the inner slats.

i have an extra grille trhat i am gonna paint the slats white, and the grill on the car black. that way i can see which on i like more. i also have an extra pass. headlight bezel that i am gonna paint white and see how it looks. i am gonna change my taillights to the ones that were in Vickie since they are sprayed white except for the 4 red bars of the taillight.

How about body color and paint the horizontal bars in the grill black?

Hopefully this link works. (I couldn't find the actual pic of my paint grille). I want to do the headlight bezels in the Spring. My car is "Currant Red" and I used "Dark Toreador Red" on my grille. I scuffed the chrome. I probably should have primed it before the paint. www.paintscratch.com should have the correct color for your Grand Marquis. Good luck!!!

Did you ever get around to painting the headlight surrounds?

No, I didn't. I will, I'm just not sure when I will get to it.

I used spray paint out of a can for my car...
it takes some time and patience to mask off the chrome on the headlight bezels.
the grille isn't too hard at all.

Mr.Marquis...I've seen a cv/gm around westminster that is the same color as your car with the grille and headlight surrounds painted...That'd give you an idea if you saw it...
