    Polishing bumpers, etc.

What's everyone use for metal polish? Our bumpers, etc., are stainless and not chrome right?

I always thought they are chrome plated steel - not sure though. I have been using good old turtle wax chrome polish with good results but i picked up some of that eagle one neverdull wadding to try.

This stuff left a nasty black haze on aluminim... I sure hope it doesnt do that to the chrome.

Yea they're chrome plated. I've seen plenty of rotted out rear bumpers, the chrome peels off.

The trim around the doors and that is stainless tho.

I use the Turtle Wax stuff myself, it works pretty good. It actually removed the pit rust in my old bumper, with moderate buffing.

All this reminds me I need to wash, wax, and buff the car some. It's been hiding in the garage a lot, so it's staying clean.

Are you sure that 91's have aluminium? I think mine are steel... (pock marks rust is why I think that. My old 90 had an aluminum which showed oxidized aluminium in the pock marks) (Pock marks being caused by stones, etc over the years).

Take a magnet outside the bumper to find out...

Ill try the magnet, but what Im still confused about is if the steel bumpers and other trim is "chromed" or polished stainless.
