    Screw Trim pieces!

Well the rust is attacking. it has been for awhile. But for the majority of it I blame the stupid grandma style trim. Yes it completes the lines of the car but christ.

That should explain my frustration. those pictures are after removing the bubbled paint and such. So I'm gonna be spending some time doing some metal and fibreglass work. Even though winter's on it's way I'm gonna fix this mess up since I'll probably be getting rid of this car soon. I'll be staying in the panther world, Once I get a steady job going I'll probably be either picking up a 2 door Merc, or a 98+ PI. Who knows. I'll be posting the pictures of my completed body work, when I complete it...

Yeah, they suck. Most people maintain the cars poorly and the crap builds up under the trim and absorbs water...and then comes the rust.

My car has rust bubbles in a few places....no where near any trim.

This is why its a good idea to pressure wash under the trim regularly. All sorts of mud and goop comes out of there.

Well I got side tracked from the rust repair by my leaky P/S box, while down there got distracted and finally replaced the front sway bar bushings and hardware. Then I found a leak in my brake line, patched it just for another to occur, more stuff to do before she can go back on the road, ugh. Tomorrow's another day.

That's exactly what I'm fighting now, but I think I got them taken care of, and in a couple of minutes I'm off to spray the 'real' paint on. Rust sucks, period! A tip for battleing it - get a good angle grinder and use it on the rusts spots, I got a Milwaukee HD one (8.5 amps, 10000rpms) on Sunday just for that reason.

I pulled insulation out of a hole in the back of my wagon. It's all that damn insulation inside holding moisture.

The only rust on my vic, besides under my doors and at the dr hinge was back behind some trim. When I dug everything out it was a screw that was mixed in with factory seam sealer that had rubbed against the metal over the years. Its fixed now.

Yeah I use an anglegrinder for the beginning brute work, then I clean out the gouges with a good heavy metal brush. Once it's gone depending on how bad it is either make a patch panel peice and remove th old metal or if the old metal is thick enough I hit it with fiberglass and smooth it out. But I'm going out now to start...
