I went to a couple shops yesterday to get quotes on repairing my body alignment and paint....All between $3000 and $5000...Holy crap dude! I'll do it myself.

A good paint job on a body thats absolutely mint (no dents or rust or deep scratches at all) usually costs about $2000. And body work racks up the bucks quick. But it can easily cost $1000 to do it yourself. Of course you can paint a car yourself for about $200. Just a question of end product quality. If you're not really familiar with painting, I'd go the $200, single stage paint route. it'll save you alot of money, and you'll probably have a decent looking finish when you're done.
