79-85 used a vent window that was opperated by a knob that stuck out of the door panel. 86-91 had a simple latch on the vent frame. I have installed vent windows in all of my wagons as well as several customers cars.
One guy had me install it only on the drivers side so he could flick his cigarette ashes out. WagonMan

My 85 has the frame latch to close it. I replace one on the passenger side... what a PITA!!!!
I think you're supposed to remove the window glass to get them out, but I did it leaving the glass in

Unless I'm mistaken, the vent windows were not available on the 90-91s. Why, I don' know. Some of the older boxes had a knob that opened the vent windows while the '85s to '89s had a latch type assembly.

Towncar vent windows are by far my favorite. They're electric and roll down.

the electric ones are nice - BUT they make the aftermarket rain gutter/window vents useless

I don't have window vents... which is good, because I don't like them.

I like the crank out ones better. I'd like the Townie ones more if they worked like a real wing vent and would direct air in instead of just dropping straight down. It would be cool having a seperate dealie to pivot the window out at the touch of a switch. Hmm, maybe I need an earlier GM to electrify the wing window cranks.
