CFI specific heater hose replacement and simplification

replaced the intake manifold nipple with a NPT thread pipe plug



cover the EGR spacer nipples with rubber caps



get rid of the damn heater hose coolant sensor (unless it works) bypass by joining the two wires together.

make a little bracket to let the hose sit pretty, using the AC bottle bracket, after you hack out your AC parts (unless it works)



this is good hose - rubber core, complete fiber seathing, sillicone outer shell.

you made it!!! Glad to see you found the CFI archives

And yes, the 83 CFI is EEC-III and is demonic. I havent tinkered with one except for looking under RoastDawg's hood for a few seconds. For sure you can get rid of the smog pump stuff (will greatly clean up the passenger fender well), and the EGR valve and EVAP system if you like.
I actually have everything on mine functioning like it should, mostly because learning about it and playing with it made me not hate it all so much And re-arranging & cleaning things made it less of a mess and easier on the eyes.
But as far as mods go, Tom is right - you cant really get much power out of any CFI without going to lengths that would be more trouble than a carbswap.

lol, not hard to find this site man, its in threads everywhere, and yeah, all the smog bullshit is already gone, that was out 2 days after i got it, evap dosnt work right cause the thing reeks on a bad day, just a little stink on a good one, as for egr, thinkin ill rip it off, cover up the hole, and keep the spacer plate for a little heat prevention, colder air in the motor is better, and if anything, find a way to keep the little heather hoses on it, rig up an electric cutoff, and use it to heat the intake charge in the winter, cause this whole 15 mins till heat sux, trying to figure out a way to use one of those cool cans the drag racers use and run that with like a window washer pump on it through the egr heater hose crap as a way of cooling the intake air, possible?, mabye ill get bored one day...
