That explains it! My 88 Merc had 'em but all of the other speakers were aftermarket installations so I assumed the dash ones weren't there originally. ThanksOriginally posted by 91waggin View Post

I'm probably going to remove the door speakers that I have and just run dash speakers and the rear deck speakers. Too much water gets into those doors.

You are right about the water. What i did to combat that was take police carpet (thick rubber in the police cars) cut it to a shape that would bolt that behind the speaker (like a flap) making the water run down the rubber instead of into the speaker. Works great.~David~

can you tell me how that goes? Right now im running dash, doors, and rear shelf and I might lose the door speakers, something keeps rattling no matter how much dampener I put in. I'm looking at some pioneers for the dash. Does anyone know if anyone makes 5 1/4 (factory size) speakers that actually fit in the dash?
