high voltage in the interior???

I just remembered I meant to post about this after i went to the junkyard last week... while I was pulling the wiring for the visor lights out of the junkyard car, when I got to the insides of the 'B' pillars I found two little transformers on each side labeled 'warning! high voltage'

For the life of me I cant think of anything in our interiors that would require high voltage power.
Anyone know what these could be for???

Did it have the funky heated windshield?, I forget what its called but you can see a redish tint to em. They work pretty damn good.

no heated windshield - i looked upder the hood and didnt see the 100 amp ex reg alternator like what comes with that option.
I couldnt pull enough of the wires out to find where they went either... it was wierd. The wires came out of the harness about halfway down the pillar on both sides, then went back into the harness to who knows where.
I must know!!! I may just have to go back and investigate further

My first thought was also the Instaclear windshield but I can't think of anything that would require any high level of voltage inside the car. I don't think I have them in my car at any rate and my shop manual doesn't give me a clue what it might be.

Was it a P72? If so, it might have been for a big-ass lightbar or something.

Well I figured this out today... I guess I was too distracted last time to notice that this vic had lights on its outer B pillars like a rand marq does, only they are different. These lights are like old school electro0luminescence (the same technology that makes neon stringlights light up). I had no idea it was in use back then!
This vic has the full coach roof on it, the kind with vinyl all the way down the A-pillars. I accidently broke one of them while removing it improperly, but they were in pretty bad shape anyway. The light is just a thin strip of this material and uses the 110 volt tranformers to light it up.

I'll be adding this to the list of things to consider putting on mine... I think they would look neat on a slick top... maybe.

I've seen those on one or 2 Vics. I think they're the only ones they put on Vics, actually...Mercs had their own thing.

That is weird. I was lead to believe that nothing on a car could shock you to death with the 12v system.
