Went to replace the starter relay earlier and the little wire that pops on the upper stud broke. The boot came off empty. The fastener inside the boot was still attached to that tiny stud. So tomorrow, I'm gonna bust out my crimpers, and pull the one off of the blue Vic. I should've known I was going to have problems when I saw the Ford logo on the piece. I'm willing to bet $20 that it's the original relay.

I broke a tab off my starter trying to get the battery cables off of it, that was fun. But I did end up with a new one for the price of a rebuilt because autozone was retarded. I replaced everything in the charging system and I think the battery cables were the problem to start with.-Matt

If its the stud on top - red connector - thats the signal wire for the relay to crank the starter. Thats the one you can 'jump' from the battery to make the car crank from under the hood.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

I replaced the original on my car when it stuck one day and the starter kept spinning after the motor started. Popped the hood, whacked the relay and drove to work. Went to Autozone on the way home and changed it in the parking lot. Dude came out as i was re-connecting the battery and asked if I needed any help LOL.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Yeah Pete, it was that one. I'm just going to cut the end off of the blue Vic and crimp it onto GO. If I can get a chance, I'm yanking the starter off the blue Vic as it was replaced the same time as the relay. There's less than 2k miles on them.
Once I get the car going properly I'm going to focus on the charging system first with a new battery, new regulator, and a new relay even though this one is good.Save a seal, club a liberal.

it goes deep into that harness... it wouldnt be fun to replace the whole thing.
I would just crimp a ring terminal onto whats left of the wire and use a small nut to hold it on the stud.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
