    Interior lights timer relay location?

Can anyone help me find this relay? The Haynes manual doesn't help at all. The interior lights keep getting stuck on. Head light switch has issues too, dip beam won't work, only mains. Wondering if the relay is inside the switch and that's what's causing the problem. I jiggled the switch yesterday and everything started working properly again. Can you buy new head light switches or do I need to go to the pick-a-part?

    Thanks in advance

Interior lights - the illuminated entry module handles that. It's a plastic box mounted under the dash, somewhat to the left of the radio, accessed through the driver side under the dash. Like any electronic module it could go bad, but it's more likely that one of the switches is at fault. The door jamb switches (for when door is open) or the switches integral with the door latches (for illuminated entry) could be at fault. If the module does turn out to be bad it's very likely a junkyard only item.

Headlights - you'll need to be more specific about issues, but the switch does have an integral circuit breaker AND the full current of the lamps does run through it, so they do age in an unpleasant way. The switch (and pigtail if needed because it's burnt up) are sold new through retail parts channels. Rewiring the circuit with relays would be a smart decision as well.

Thanks for the info. I will check the things you suggested. I've eliminated the door switches (by accident) when I jiggled the main light switch and everything started working again. This did happen after I replaced the dip beam head lamps with higher wattage units so I think the switch is probably a good place to start. Although I don't know why that would affect the interior lights?

The headlight switch (which is kind of an assembly of multiple switches when you think about it) has a switch for the interior lights as well, when you turn the knob all the way counter clockwise. It's possible it's worn out causing your issues with the interior lights also. The two issues should have no real relation to each other but it's technically possible the headlight switch might be at fault for both.

I would not replace the headlight switch as the sole course of action for the headlights. I would combine that effort with rewiring with relays, because the factory wiring and circuit design is not adequate for "higher wattage units" or even really the normal ones.

OK, again thanks for the advice!
I found a new switch locally so that's a good start. Quite surprised they had one for such an old car. As for the relays I can use standard Bosch style ones and just run a complete new pair of circuits for hi/lo beams.
          Cheers
