My 88 use to have tint on the rear window. But removed it after cops wouldnt leave me alone a few years ago because the tint was to dark. Since then my rear defroster is not working I'm pretty sure when I removed the tint it took the defroster grid off. There is still power to the tab but it's not working. Just want to know is there a way to fix it with out replacing the rear window. Any advice would help I wanna fix it before I get it tinted again. But not dark tint

You have to find every break in the wires and fix it with a conductive liquid glue. There are products made just for this. If none of the wires are working you may have so much damage you need to repaint the whole thing. Or maybe each wire has only one gap.03 Marauder DPB, HS, 6disk, Organizer Mods> LED's in & Out, M&Z rear control arms, Oil deflector, U-Haul Trans Pan, Blue Fuzzy Dice

A rear defrost repair kit like what jaywish is describing would still work but it sounds like it would take many multiple kits... You may be better off checking with an auto glass place. I would imagine an auto glass place can redo the defrost grid without needing to replace the whole window.Vic

The cops around here bugged you about the rear tint? Limo tint is legal on the rear. WTF?!

If it has the frenched rear window with no trim, you replace the glass by first removing the top from the car, then removing the fiberglass shell under it, then putting all new parts in. Its quite expensive.
if its the more typical setup with the metal trim, it works basically like a windshield. A competent glass place can do that job without wrecking the top.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Looks like the top is shot anyway. Good thing, you'd have to remove it to do the window, and I do not believe it possible to remove the top without wrecking it.
And yeah, thats the one with the shell. Honestly I've never been a fan of that style, and not just because of the window replacement issue. I think it looks better with the trim. Perhaps thats bias on my part, having a fairly uncommon base model Lincoln that has the extremely difficult to find rear window trim.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
