'87 mgm trunk lock light problem

I replaced the bulb on the '87 mgm trunk lock light, but it still doesn't light. What causes it to come on, or stay off?

I didn't know the trunk lock was lit. You are talking about the lock on the trunk right? Could you take a pic?

hm, can't say I've seen a lit trunk lock either. Sure you're not talking about the license plate lamp? Or do you mean the lamp inside the trunk that lives sort of next to the latch assembly?

Gadget, sometimes my incompetence surprises me. It is indeed the license plate light, which illuminates with a tug on the headlight switch.

if you had any idea how many times I've done stuff like that you'd never listen to my input again.
