So this has been going on ever since I upgraded to the 3G. Squeal on startup. It goes away but is annoying as hell. Belt is new and tight. In fact I worry that it is too tight. Alternator practically new. This has gotta be one of the most frustrating things. Should be something simple but I can't figure it out.

The belt routing on these is a bit sketchy. Seems you really have to reef on that tensioner to get the belts tight enough to not scream. Mine always end up tighter than I think is correct to be quiet at any rate.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

mine (the 88 mgm) does that on startup too, but it's the power steering pump pulley slipping. meh.

Just over thirty years. Went to UK, graduated and moved to NC. But I'll be back. Wife is from Campbellsville and we'll likely retire there.95 DGM Impala SS, 383, LT4 cnc heads, LT4 matched intake, Holley 58 mm t/body, GM 846 cam, GMPP 1.5 rr's, F-body MAF, BH OBD I PCM, LT4 knock module, K&N cold air, Edelbrock headers, Flowmaster exhaust, BBHP #73 6-speed, 4:10 gear, sloted and drilled rotors, Z28 cluster
