Ok, ya all put on yer thinking caps for this one!!!

So, I put on the wipers to wash the crap off the w/s.
They fail to park below the w/s, sometimes they just stayed mid w/s when turned off..........AND........this is the kicker, some kind of alarm or buzzer comes on (loud) as I attempt to get the wipers to behave normally?????

Later after an hour of expressway driving, I was able to get them to park.

    WTF is going on??????????

Was there ice at the base of the windshield? I have no clue about the buzzer...

I think I read somewhere in here where gadget mentioned that there's a module for the wipers that tells them where to park, that's probably bad. I know mine don't fully down under the hood..

Just what kind of "crap" are we talking here? Maybe it's too sticky. (Or maybe the windshield wiper and washer fluid manufacturers need to collaborate with the toilet paper quality control experts.)

There is a parking cam in the wiper motor itself. If it fails, the wiper usually either fails to park, or it won't shut off. If there is a wad of ice under it, it'll try and park but it jams up. It will often make noises if that happens.

There is an interval wiper module somewhere in there, but I don't know about it making any noises. Usually if it dies, the interval wipers just don't work.

No ice, but the noise you mention sounds like what is happening!...the wipers work on slow med and high, but just did not want to stop and park, until later when the egine was hot after one hour of hiway driving. Should I start to look for another wiper motor?

Year? I know when they went out on my '99, they would not park due to a dead/dying wiper motor. Probably not your issue, but IIRC my mechanic had to go through 3 dead replacement parts until he found one that worked. I think 1 brand new and 2 junkyard parts, none of the 3 worked. Finally found a good one out of the junkyard.

Does the buzzing sound like it's coming from a speaker inside the car or from the wiper stuff under the hood? And what exactly are you doing to "attempt to get the wipers to behave normally"? (eg. working the controls or physically moving the wipers with your hands?)

It sounds like it is coming from the speaker....I have F-ed with the controls on the steering wheel...I finally drove the car away with the blades almost parked...then an hour after driving I tried again and they parked correctly.

I'm anything but an expert for this issue, but this has me guessing some kind of wiring issue.

My 86 does some weird stuff when it gets cold. Wipers won’t always park. When you put it in intermittent mode , it moves a couple of inches and stops. I up the intermittent settings and it looks like digital wipers running until everything warms up. After that, the wipers run like they should and they will park. Not sure it that helps any, but thought at least I wasn’t the only one that had weird wipers. I don’t have any problems in the summer.
