    Hanging wire???

While on the lift doing a LOF, I spotted a wire that just seemed to be dangling in free air under the vibration damper....the wire seemed to be attached to some kind of fitting screwed into the side of the crankcase.

Had no time to trace and secure.

What is this wire....it had some kind of loom surrounding it.

taking a guess, its the wire for the low oil level sensor. Thats on the driver's side of the oil pan, basically centered on the rear sump area.

      I believe you are correct!
But how is that wire supposed to be 'draped'...I guess I mean secured?.......it can not be "normal" for the wire to be just dangling!........where does it initiate from, I guess I need to know how it is run, from point A to point B.

Are we talking the wire from the oil light sensor? If so, it goes from the sensor to a wiring harness for the IP. Can you zip tie it to something so it doesn't hang??

Bob I believe gadget is correct, it's the low warning wire going to the side of the crankcase. I have to see how I can tie-wrap it the next time up on the lift.....I just know it can not be just hanging there with no support. I would like to find a new wire if possible.

I think there is supposed to be a little metal tab or something on the frame next to the motor mount that secures it, but I've never seen one hooked in there. I usually just find something to zip tie it to. There is supposed to be a brace from the motor mount down to the transmission right in that area that works fine to tie wires to. The brace is sometimes missing though.

Gadget when on the lift last week, I just took a large tie-wrap and attached it up to a part of the engine.

Use some kind of wire instead of zip ties for that. Zip ties will not last with the engine/trans heat.

or just zip tie to something not attached to the engine/trans/exhaust but rather the mounts, frame, crossmember, brackets.
