    No dash lights

My 89 TC does not have dash lights. I replaced the light switch, replaced the connector to the light switch as it had a burned spot. All other lights work. Any ideas ?

Any voltage with a volt meter at the bulb sockets?

All other lights work including the tail lights? The dash lights and tail lights are on the same circuit from the switch so they should both be out if the problem is at the switch.
Is the new switch a Motorcraft or did you do what I did and just get the cheapest one you could find? I've had plenty of problems with the cheap, $25-$30 I think, switches. I'm thinking the extra cash for a Motorcraft switch will be worth it.

When the switch is the problem I can usually get the dash lights on if I slowly pull the light switch out and sometimes between clicks the dash lights will come on. It can take a bit of fidgeting with the switch to get this to work though.

the dash lights are off the dial that turns on the dome light, not the parking lights. Make sure the dimmer isn't all the way down.

The tail lights, turn signals work fine. The switch does not have the adjustment dial for the automatic dimmer. I replaced the switch twice with used motorcraft switches. The first used one when installed blew fuses. Second used switch worked without blowing fuses. I have not taken the cluster out to check bulbs. I did not want to buy a new motorcraft switch if the problem was simple or something other than the switch.

the pull knob for the headlights should twist as well... that's the dimmer for the dash lights. All the way and a click should turn on the dome light. Click back and the dash lights should be set to the highest brightness.

Check the fuse? I think its a 2 or 5 amp fuse, should be the only one in the box that small.
