Sealant to use on these materials? (Guts of In cabin Temp sensor)

This is the (leaky) heart of the in cabin temp sensor for an ATC car.

I think some sealant around the edge of the gasket where it mates to the plastic may solve the problem but I don't know what to use. It could be a silicone type rubber but maybe not. The plastic that it needs to bond with is slick.

If this works I will post all the disassembly/assembly pictures.

Here is a pic of it in place followed by one of it removed.

Also one showing kind of how it functions. The material is very flexible.

Looks like its a rubber friction seal sort of deal, kind of like an O-ring. I'd probably go with silicone grease as a lube as long as it fits snugly. The seal should be the rubber washer to the plastic piece.

Yes it is rather like an o-ring. I guess the silicone grease could work, and has the advantage of not doing any harm. I was a bit hesitant, wondering if the vacuum would eventually suck in the grease. Oh what the heck.

It certainly seems getting an adhesive for a silicone gasket is not easy.
