    Right turn signal issue

Okay so I got my TownCar at my buddies place for now since we have no room at my house for it right now, and I went to take it in to see what it needed for a safety and I noticed my right blinker light on the dash was on, and whenever I went to turn the right signals on all they would do is turn on and not blink at all. Why? I'm fairly new to Panthers, especially older boxes so any info would be nice. Thanks

Sounds like you have a bulb out. The turn signal flasher uses a type of circuit breaker to blink the lights. If one bulb is burnt out, not enough current will flow, causing the breaker not to open. Check the turn/stop bulbs on the right side. I bet you'll find one burnt out.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Wait wait wait...the right turn signal on the dash is on all the time?
        One of 3 things.
        --Bad bulb
        --Bad flasher
        --Bad turn signal switch

        Check in that order.

If the right turn signal is on all the time, the cluster may have a bad ground.

Sorry to bump. I put a new bulb in, it was the white light that illuminates when you flip the signal on. I tried it and the signal still did not flash. it works just fine when the driving lights are off, but as soon as i put them on, the right signal arrow on the dash comes on and the signal doesn't work. My dad said it could be a bad flasher so I'm gonna look into that next. Fingers crossed its nothing major

make sure someone didnt put the wrong bulb in somewhere. They should be dual contact lamps. if someone put in a single contact lamp, it would have shorted the parking light power feed back to the blinker light feed. Check the front and back lights to make sure its not that.

I'll take a look tomorrow before I go to work, pretty sure I bought dual contact bulbs.

you changed the front and rear lamps? Just curious because it wasn't clear from what you said. I was just thinking if you changed one, the other may be the wrong kind. Might also be worth looking in the socket itself to make sure the contacts aren't bent into each other or anything like that.

nononono. I didnt touch anything but the white turning lamp that illuminates the orange signal light at the bottom of the car. That was the bulb that was out. I'll take a look at the contacts tomorrow. It only happens when I turn on the driving/headlights. when they're off the right turn signal functions normally

Question: How the hell do you get the signal housings off these cars?! Ive been trying to figure out why it won't budge even though I've taken out all of the bolts that supposedly go to it.

there are 2 or 3 nuts up there in the fender, in the area where like 6 are. you have to get the right ones. if you aren't bleeding, you haven't found the right ones yet

there is also a rear turn signal lamp. make sure that one is the correct type as well. comes out from inside the trunk, behind the carpet on the side.

I found something new today, when the driving/headlights are on the passenger signal illuminator bulb whatever its called stays on indefinitely, which was the burnt out bulb I replaced..I may have bought the wrong bulb
