going thru too many fuel pump relay switches

    Hello Again,

It seems like I am replacing the fuel pump relay switch every 3 weeks to 2 months. Since November, 4 months ago I have replaced the fuel pump relay switch 5-6 times. The car starts to run rough while driving or sometimes when starting. It acts like the fuel filter is dirty and clogged. I replace the fuel pump relay switch and it clears right up and drives fine until it happens at some random time a few weeks to a couple of months later.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you again,
    Mike

I wonder if the pump amp draw is taking out the relay contacts. Next time it happens break it open and see. If you have an ohm meter also check the relay coil before and after. You can ohm the contacts too.

gotta be high current draw, either from a failing pump or one thats working much too hard.

        Thank you guys.
I did notice that the one I replaced most recently seemed to warm to the touch as I replaced it. I figured it was because it was in the engine compartment. Any thoughts or ideas as to when it is time to replace the ECM relay switch?

        Thank you,
        Mike

Check connections between the rear axle and the tank. One set can sometimes rubb against on the the braces in the frame.
Check for any grounds in the harness going from the harness going from the relay to the pump.
