    Sequential Tail Lights

Did a search but didn't find much (maybe I missed something?) but was wondering how much of a PIA and what the procedures would be to put sequential tail lights on my '87 GM. Recently saw them on a later Mustang and thought they would look cool on the GM. Thanks....Bobby

You have to get a flasher module. I've seen them online for about 50-60 bucks. Don't know how good they are. Then you obviously have to modify your tail light housings to accept a third 1157 socket. Then I think there's something with a resistor to change the flash rate so all three come on and go off at the right speed.

I've done a little research on this myself, and I came across the website of a guy who makes the modules. There are screw terminals for all the connections, and he sold them for I believe, just under 60 bucks a piece, per side of course.

Having trouble finding the site again.

Here's a DIY write-up. The "dynamite sticks" are kinda pricey if I recall.

1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Years ago when there were no "kits" available a guy I knew took the sequential box from a Cougar or T-bird and wired it into his Firebird, and it worked great!! So it can't be that hard to rig up.
If I had a GM it would have gotten sequentials long ago, those tail lights are made for them.

Yeah, real big casings to show off the sequential lights.

We are currently rebuilding the site content., and your request has been logged. Please see if the page you need is below:

Here are the ones I was talking about.

Looks like he builds them in his garage. I guess if they work....
Oh, looks like you only need one after all. It controls both sides.

Thanks for the research! Should work for the 87 but I just wrote to him and will hopefully receive a response. If so, I'll post the response here!!

Probably but after looking through several pages my eyes started to glaze over - I'll keep digging, though!!

also, you'll have to cut the taillight housing to accommodate another 3-wire socket as the inside red light is only a parking light.

Of course! Nothing a Dremel and a steady hand can't handle.
