Battery suggestion for my 86 town car

    What series battery is that? 590 CCA is pretty wimpy IMHO

    I run a 65 series 850CCA in my winter beater. That with a junkyard 3g has served me fine for many many miles.

      Ah. Only used Mustang and Taurus ones before. Case is aluminum, should be easy to drill with some oil.

        Large frame 3G's (at least the 2 I got my mitts on) have a threaded top hole, but it's a different pitch so you still have to get different hardware...

          it's not your problem, but I agree 590CCA is wimpy. Usually anything with a V8 starts at 750-800.

          06 Mazda 3 hatch 2.3L 5AT (winter beater that cost more than my summer car)

            So I grinded out the battery tray ridge that was for the 58 series and now it fits a group 65 interstate megatron II. Much much better.....

              That's EXACTLY what I did on my '87 so now it fits a monster battery.
