how big a battery do you run?

Just curious what everyone else is running for a battery...I need to pick one up to get my car mobile so I can work out the running kinks before I start on bodywork.

My old Energizer never gave me any trouble until the winter after I parked my car. It lasted 6 years before it gave up the ghost which is pretty reasonable. I've already got a 3G alternator, huge +/- cables and I've done the fuse box install so the rest of the electrical system is up to snuff.

    How many CCA?

    Who makes it?

How long have you had it?

What kind of abuse do you put it through?

I'm likely going to buy a cheap junkyard battery just to get the car mobile but I'll get a decent one when I have the cash.

I run a Duralast Gold 1000 Cranking Amp Battery (65-DLG). Been in the car for a number of years now and my only real grip is probably my own fault. In winter and ONLY in winter the battery gets to low on me...but I never drive the car.

I have the group 65 Walmart Neverstart. I replace them about every 2 years because they go bad constaltly. Luckily I have the 3 year free replacement. I think I'm on #5 or #6 and haven't paid for one yet. Unless you have nothing better to do with your time, I'd advise something thats less crappy.

In other anectodal evidence, I got 6 years out of an Autocraft Platinum (from Advance) in my S10, and I'm currently on year 2 or 3 on a Duralast Gold in the Mark VII.

I have a superstart extreme 65EXTN from o,reilly (imagine that....lol).....never had a battery related problem (did have one go down, but after I replaced the faulty alt/alt plug on my 2G that problem went away), that being said, a motorcraft wouldn't be a bad choice either, do stay away from "bargain" series batteries, spend the extra 10 to 15 bucks for the "top" line version (for example, standard vs. silver vs. gold , always buy the "gold")one way to get an idea on how "good" a battery is ,is to pick it up , usually the heavier the battery, the better it is(this applies to lead acid batteries only, gel and AGM batteries are different) reason being is that a heavier battery usually has more lead plates in it, offering more surface area, leading to more cranking amps and longer life

I'd put a group 65 in any box that doesn't have a mini starter.
