What is needed for LED's in the taillights?

In a 1991 MGM LS. I searched this and couldn't quite come to a consensus (I did get a lot of piecy information on sequential lighting though lol). Can I just put LED's in? I'm not trying to do sequential or anything (for now) I just blacked out my tail lights and need something a lot brighter. Also, if anyone has the bulb numbers on hand that would help a lot.

Also, if anyone knows the number of the trunk bulb that would be awesome. The only superbrightled sent me was the wrong one.

Unless a 91 has an LCM which I'm pretty sure it doesn't, should be able to just put the LEDs in there.

For my crown vic the bulbs were I wanna say 1157/6

I just got some cheapos off eBay. Although some of what I got were duds.

      NO!!!!!
You need a load resistor or you will burn up the flasher.
3157 or 1157. Either way, it needs to be a -57 series bulb.
You also want a red bulb, that has 360* coverage so it uses the lens in the housing to reflect the light.
You can also buy a LED capable flasher that generates the load for the LED bulbs AND it works with conventional bulbs too.
I was going to try this setup soon.
Check out www.superbrightleds.com. Thats where I get my LEDs from.

or an electronic flasher (one of those "for LEDs" ones).

If you tinted your taillights, I don't think LED bulbs will work very well.

Ah yep forgot about the flasher. Just get an led compatible flasher it's very easy to put on.

Since you tinted them I would take the apart and the chrome the inside, or do the disco ball mirror trick.

There's an electronic flasher that's available in parts stores the EL-12 I think it's called. It's a direct replacement for our flasher. It's a bit taller than the other one, but I didn't have an issue putting it in my vic. My parent's vic on the other hand, the fuse panel cover didn't fit, so I have to actually cut a circular hole in that area for it to work.

I have a sequential tail light kit I may sell, think it was 120 or so, but it has 194 bulbs for the center. two by the backup lights. Had to dremel out the holes and drill screw holes to mount the center bulbs of the three tails. So I was running 1157 9-LEDs and regular 194s or whatever number they are. I cut it and all the taillight wiring to the left corner out of my '91 that got totalled while it was sitting out at my mechanic's before the insurance company vultures took it. Make an offer.

Yup I did that as well! Then I took it a step further and took the cap off of a gallon jug of water and glued it to the cover so the flasher sat inside all nice and happy like, then I took it another step further and painted it black... then i took it yet another step further and took a silver paint marker and drew a mercury logo on it.... yeah, I'm a dork what can I say.

I can't tell if you're serious or not. But I didn't even think about putting a cap back on it. LOL

I did a quick search on the EL-12 flasher and saw a TON of posts on different forums listing problems with it.

Which one of these flashers is the one I need? - http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/l...8-590--528376/

^That's the trunk light LED number?

Is this the tail light bulb I'm looking for? its 360 degree's and comes in colors for reverse/tail/brake- http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...led-tower/802/
This one's even brighter but holy hell they are expensive - http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...led-tower/633/

I would need 4 of those right?

IIRC I have a total of 4 brake light bulbs, 2 reverse light bulbs, and 2 turn signal bulbs right :?

There actually vinyled. I'm trying to get the brightest LED's I can and hope it works. Worst case scenario I have to take the vinyl off, but I have wanted to switch to LED for a while, I have HID's in the front anyways.

The brake/turn is done with the same bulbs, so 4x 3157 covers both for both sides. If the newer box GMQ lights are like the older ones, I think you also have 2x 194-bulb marker lights in each side, if you want to make those LED.

The mirror trick was in a thread here somewhere. Someone took the the covers off the lights and glued little mirrors inside the lights. Looks pretty awesome if you can figure out how to get the covers off, which I cant figure out lol.
