The bolts hold the motor to the regulator. The regulator is held in by multiple rivets. Even if you wanted to remove the regulator, IIRC, the motor has to come off anyway. Because, I cant remember if the motor fits through where the glass runs.

Unless thee is something wrong with the regulator don't bother trying to remove it.

Smear some paint or grease where you drilled the holes to prevent rust.
