Anyway, my '88 Country Squire soldiered on for awhile, my red engine light of death would flicker at stop lights, until I got the thicker 20w50 oil in it. Or if relatively new oil, you could pour a can or two of "engine honey" into it to thicken the oil up. This may not be the end of the car, mang!

I rode my 79 Continental with the red light on solid at idle. The engine knocked and clattered like no tomorrow, but it ran on all 8 and never died. That was on 20/50.2020 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum (Ice White / Blonde)
