    chime came on while driving to work with light on. No chime when lights are off

    Good morning,
    I was driving to work this morning with my headlights on. I usually drive with the lights on cause the 1991 GM is dark blue.
    This time after about 10 minutes of driving the chime started sounding. It keeps sounding as long as the headlights or parking lights are on. Turn the headlights or parking light off and the chime stops.
    Any clue?

    I don't know how the system works in detail, but it sounds like basically the chime doesn't know the key is in run. Your issue is related to whatever tells it to only chime when the ignitions is off.

      I think that's caused by a short in the headlight switch. or a loose ground under the dash from the module.

        Temporary fix. I turn the lights on, then I turn the delay switch on and then turn the lights off with the key on and the chime stops.

          last time I had that problem it was the driver's side door switch that crapped out. It was raining, and water got down into the plug and made it ding constantly. I replaced the switch and removed the noisebox. It hasn't made a sound since

              This has to be it. Same thing happened in my Jetta. The 'your keys are in/headlights left on' dinging when driving down the road with all doors closed securely.

                I just unplugged my chime module because it was annoying.
