I believe I know the problem, but just double checking first. Basically, when the car is being driven (especially at faster RPMs such as highway speeds), the symptoms are as follows:
If heater ON and set to WARM -- smoke comes out of the vents and smells somewhat like antifreeze
If heater OFF and set to WARM -- hardly any smoke and only minor smell
If heater ON/OFF but set to COLD (no A/C) -- nothing
I double checked that it wasn't something else, such as oil burning off the manifolds. So, I'm guessing that I have a coolant leak in the heater core...right? The radiator has been losing fluid, but there is nothing on the inside of the car on the floorpan. If the heater core is leaking, how hard of a fix to pull it out? Do I pull it from the engine compartment or under the dash?
Thanks! This car has 258k miles and it wouldn't be possible without this forum!
