correct AC freon and oil charge

    Hi Guys,

I read a few old threads but I wanted to make sure I have this correct. I'm installing a new compressor, orifice and drier along with flushing the line and heat exchangers and I need to confirm the accurate R12 charge and oil charge for my 84 colony park wagon - which I assume is the same as any 84 grand marquis as there is only front a/c.

I have read 3.25 lbs freon and 13 oz total oil? Is that correct? Also - where \can you find the correct mineral oil? I can use esther oil if need be but I'd rather use the 525 mineral oil...

    Thanks!!

another question - should I add all oil to the compressor or put some in the drier as well? Also - if I decide not to flush the lines and heat exchangers does anyone know how much oil goes in the system just for drier and compressor change?

    Thanks!!

I know that oil is added to the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and drier/accumulator... but I'm not sure if the R12 system and 134A system require the same amounts in the same places.

I know the general rule for the 134a systems (or the converted to 134a systems) is 2 oz per location. But if R12 needs 13 oz... I'm not sure where the other 5 should go.
