    where is the orifice tube located

    Where would the orifice tube be located on the 84 2 door. I just finised up with the new lines, o-rings, and dryer but i can seem to find where the orifaice tube is. thanks matt
    1984 mercury grand marquis ls rebuilt 306 flat top pistons with factory cfi and lincoln headers with single glasspack dual snorkle air cleaner. Gloss black paint with slick top coversion.

    Its in the lower pipe of the evaporator. Undo the liquid line, and look down inside the pipe. You should see the screened end. There is a special tool to pull that out, and if you can get one I'd highly suggest it. if you wreck the inside of the evaporator pipe, the oriface tube won't seal properly and it will leak around it, causing really craptastic performance.

      Whoever named it the orifice tube must've had one too many enimas.
