    window regulator repair?

    Hey!

Just want to know what to expect/ what tools to have on hand/ what parts to have on hand before I get this door apart.

A while ago I asked ...also about this friend's 1989 mustang, I'll be glad to see the last of it... about the water leak past the driver door.

Indeed, as was suggested here, the window regulator has serious play. I can rock the window back and forth.

I know from looking at my own door, and I doubt a 1989 mustang will be any different from a 1990 mgm here, that there's a white rectangular tab that slides back and forth.
Is this what I'll probably find broken behind this mustang door?
How is it replaced? Simple philips screw and swap a new slide/tab in and out, or elaborate drilling out of a dozen rivets, removal of the window glass and then the entire regulator, sort of deal?

    thanks for the instruction!

It probably pops into the arm of the regulator. You're not getting the regulator out without drilling out the 4 rivets that hold it to the door frame. The glass doesn't need to be removed for the regulator removal. At least in the crown vic's case...

It sounds more like the guides are worn, where the window glass rides up and down on. In that case the window glass must come out.
