pos though it may be... it lasts long enough to do a dozen of these.

It doesn't cut the stem off flush like it should, but thats nothing a pair of lineman's pliers or a good pair of side cutters cant sort. Its also a lot of work to reef them in, and the jaws don't seem to be terribly hard so eventually it will wipe the "teeth" off the jaw and then it just won't work anymore.

the one I had just crushed itself (the metal behind the jaw housing buckled)... but then I was using 1/4" rivets in a smaller pop gun.

5/16"-24 is the size I tapped the door lock actuator with.

If you need the wiggle room, you don't really on the front doors, you can remove the door latch.
Three large (#3?) philips screws and you can twist it around.
However, they're likely frozen, so then you'll find a screw driver with the hole in the handle, slide another screwdriver through it for leverage, and just round it out. Lovely feeling as the steel just smooshes around.
The magical tool there is an impact driver. Harbor freight has a cheapie, on sale for like $8 every now and then. You hit it with a hammer, and it both forces in, and impacts around, to break free rusty philips head screws.
I found it absolutely necessary on the rear doors, where i had to remove the latches to get the actuators out and in.
