'91 mercury grand marquis premium sound wiring

went to the wreckers today and i picked up a stock premium sound amp and wiring to go with it. for 15 min of work and $20, i think it was worth it i want to use my lincoln for the install. call me crazy but, im not willing to spend the coin on the aftermarket amp and install kit. like said, i have the harness to go with the amp. i also ordered the metra stereo harness, that plugs into the RCA pre-outs. i have all the color codes for the speakers but, not sure about two wires. the constant power and switched power wires. i have a wiring diagram but, its for newer panthers. are these 2 power wires labled right on my diagram? (blue=constant, purple/blue=switched)

Is that the one in the trunk, under the package tray?

yes sir. they started out black, then they were just plain aluminum/silver in color. i figure the cheap upgrade is worth it, since my deck has 3 sets of pre outs.

Let us know how you make out. I bet using the pre-out harness it will sound pretty good. Most headunits (despite their ratings) just aren't that powerful. Even a modest Ford PS amp will be better and most likely produce cleaner bass than most if not all headunits.

this is what i was thinking too. and with a sub, it should sound very good for budget. along with the amp and harness. i scored a aftermarket power cable and RCA cable, which was included in the $20 purchase lol. unfourtunatly, i wont be able to do this mod to all my cars. since, i dont have the coin for new decks, that come with 3 sets of pre-outs. but, i might use premium sound amps, to power the dash speakers. my main focus is the lincoln, since i drive it the most(i dont drive a whole lot in winter). now i just need to make up the harness and wait fo the lincoln to get out from storage lol.

well, today i decided to hit up the wreckers. not many panthers this time, yet there were the arival of two '91-'94 lincoln limo's. i managed to salvage the premiums sound system. and no, there is nothing fancy about it, other than it uses a nice factory extention cable. i say this though, them krystal coach limo's are built well. i plan on going back next week and getting the wiring and amp from the other limo. too bad i dont have a use for them 31 spline K-code rear ends.
