    Stiff Ignition Key Solenoid

It's winter time and the nights are gettin cold again. I noticed this morning that my key solenoid was really stiff. Is there any way to solve this problem?

lube the works through the column all the way to the ignition switch from the key. PITA to do though and requires removing the key cylinder and possibly part of the steering column.

Never done it on my LTD but there is a small hole(like 1/8 inch size) on the bottom of the column by the key lock cylinder. Turn the key lock cylinder to 'ON' then push a small allen wrench into the hole or any other small poker device to let you take the lock cylinder out.

You can put some grease down in there and see if that is sufficient. Your next step would be to pull the steering wheel off so you can really lube everything up.

I shoulda mentioned that this was my S-10. But I think this might be a general thing unless you got a button for the starter as with my '53 F-250. I will ask my mom if she has this problem.
