    Fuse Block removal?

Anyone know how to get the fuse block loose to remove it enough to change out the 4 way flasher on the back side? (This is the stupidest thing i have EVER seen!) I tried to get under there and figure it out, but i have a wicked cold, and can't "stand on my head" long enough due to my head starting to pound.... And i'm not as young as I once was... it is getting harder and harder to get under the dash of a car! I just need to find out where the bolts are that hold the damn thing in... Do you have to take the knee bolster out to get to them? (The panel under the steering column?) Thanks in advance for any help...

Now I am off to get some silicone to fix the rattling parking / corner lights in the front.... I can't STAND rattles!!! I'll be back on here later... Thanks!!!

Forgot if it is held in by screws or clamps but once you are well enough to check it may be easy. Hope you are feeling better real soon!!

You definately got yourself a wicked cold. Just squat by the side of the car and stick your right arm up behind the fuse block, plenty of access, no bending upside down, if you lean in you can see the 4-way flasher.

I am talking about the one on the back of the fuse block for the four way flashers.... not the one you can see.... So I have to remove the fuse block to get to it... I was hoping you could just reach around behind to get ahold of it, but no go...

Unless I am missing something here! Isn't it on the backside of the fuse block, or is it hanging loose somewhere?

Thats the one I am talking about. I assume you have the fuse cover off, look in the gap on the passenger side of the fuse block and you can just see the top of the flasher can. Now stick your right arm up BEHIND the dash, grab, and pull. Hold tight so you see the orientation of the pins and then feel the new one into place. Done.

Just so everyone is on the same page 89 and down cars have a different fuse block position as compared to 90+ cars. The 89 and down is directly behind the "knee bolster." 90 and up is under the dash..steering column area.

Glad to see you are on the road to recovery! By the way, Dave is right about the position of the fuse boxes.

I just went a looked at my 91... its not easy like the older ones for sure... you definitely can't get the flasher out of the back without dropping the panel for clearance.
The two or three bolts holding the fuse panel in at least are fairly accessible, looks like you would need some mild contorting to get them out, maybe some medium contorting to get it back in.

FINNALLY got the four way flasher installed! The four way flasher is indeed on the backside of the fuse block, and you can not just reach around in back and pull it out. At least on my car... Maybe because of extra wiring for the Police package? Anyway, had to remove the panel under the steering column, the side kick panel next to the emergency brake, just to access the screw on the left side of the fuse block, to be able to drop it enough to get the fuse panel down to where I could get to the flasher. Then I had to use a flat blade screw driver to push the old flasher out, as there is a plastic guard surrounding the flasher. Then it was easy to install the new flasher, and I was done. I ran out of light this afternoon, so I will put it back together in the morning, and take pictures for future refrence in case somebody has this happen to them.... So pictures will be added sometime tommorow afternoon... (I will be busy all morning!)

Yes it fixed it... I put a heavy duty one in, one of the new elctronic ones, that has a pretty good "click" to it when it flashes, so you know the four ways are on....

I need to repair the fuse box in my Mark. The screw holes are ... not there. The idea of buying aftermarket fuse blocks to replace all those circuits and trying to fit that all in there does not appeal to me. also, finding one of these fuse boxes in good shape is like finding a pallet of gold ingots in your garage when you get home and they are not stolen.
