    front speaker harness disconnect question....

Just got some new 4-way Pioneer speakers to replace the blown out ones in the Grand Marquis. I'd like to solder in the wires. I know there are connectors right at the speaker itself, but is there also another disconnect up inside the door that I could reach?? I'd love to solder these in instead of crimp connect.

    Thanks for any help...

They sell nice connectors that you can solder onto the speaker and then plug right into the factory plug (no cutting the factory wires). Crutchfield has them and quite possibly your local Best Buy may have them if they have an install shop at the location.

I don't believe there is another disconnect up inside the door.

I would just use the connectors that plug into the Factory wiring. Easy and they do stay put!

nothing inside the door. There is a connection under that side kickpanel usually, but its buried among the 400 other things right there. You really don't want to have to meddle with that unless you have no choice in the matter.

I connected the speaker adapter to the dash harness and extended the wires into the door with the wires that came with the speakers. A little solder and heat shrink is all it needed.

at least in my 88. The mark has 6 speakers.
