Something isnt right if cutting or removing the A/C belt improves charging or acceleration. The A/C clutch isnt working properly. Even withthe A/C engaged light acceleration is affected but at a certian load point or floored the A/C should disengage.

This. When I replaced the relays in the corner by the cruise servo on my Mark VI, the WOT acceleration went back to steller with the AC on. just one NC relay. done.

24F-DLG in my 88. 750CCA. Much better than the 540CCA they want to sell you or the larger one with the battery terminals switched (not gonna fit).

        I have a NAPA gold group 65; 1080cca iirc.
Works fine for me, always started the car and can do quite a number of starts before losing power (I was checking something)

I will say however, that when I killed it dead by accident once, it never recovered. It was under warranty and NAPA replaced it.
It's a fact that to get huge cold cranking amps out of the same size case as another battery with fewer cca's, you need to have more reaction at the same time, and that means more surface area.
The very porous lead plates, if deep-discharged, do not always recover their geometry again.
That was my problem, I presume.

Versus something like the batteries in a fork lift which have poor power ratings for their size/weight, but are very durable and long-lived, and can be cycled many times and even be deep-discharged without ruin.
        Just sayin'
So if you're not in a very cold climate, there's no real reason to go for 1000+ cold cranking amps.
That said, yes, a bigger battery size with the same cca rating, ought to be more durable-- because the plates won't have to be as porous in design, if the plates can be bigger/more numerous.

I replace old battery cables with long enought ones to reach any post position.

Fork lift batteries are of a different design usally beep cycle like a trolling motor battery. They are also wired so they add up voltage to 24V or more. Most start with a gang of 6V batteries. Autos dont have the correct charging sustem for deep cycle batteries.
There are some that are sort of a hybread starter / deep cycle. I have set up a few friends with a starter battery for the car and a trolling motor battery for the 1000+ stereo amps used. In stalled a marine smart charger in these cases that was able to switch charging to one or the other.

It's possible, the a/c system was replaced not long before I bought it so somthing may not have been installed right, i'll have to check it out but i'm not gonna worry about it until summer.
