    1989 Lincoln Town Car Autolock Feature HELP

    my car has this feature but i dont know what the procedure is to enable it. with enabled and all doors are closed and drivers seat is occupied it should lock all doors in drive.

    i do not have the 1989 owners manual i really would appreciate if someone that has the info to enable to help me.

    Enter the factory 5 digit code into the keypad, then press and hold 7/8, Then within 5 seconds press 3/4.

      tried it not working switch must be bad how to test it.

        Does the keypad work to unlock the doors?

            There may be a sensor in the seat, that if there is no weight in it, the system won't lock the doors. Possibly a problem there?

            The only other thing I would try is another keypad combination. I did a quick search and found conflicting instructions from what I posted above which is to enter the factory code and then press 1/2 and 7/8 at the same time. I really remember it being what I posted above and even searched to confirm it, before I posted... puzzled.

              Make sure the connector under the seat is plugged in also

              But I am wondering why you would want that feature activated ..,. personally I hate it and I have mine shut off

                Do your reverse lights work? It picks up the reverse lights kicking on as you shift through reverse into drive.

                  well got it to work disconnected the sensor then replugged it in then put the code in and it works.

                    You know I really miss this feature my eldorado had it and so did my 95 Grand Marquis too bad the 88 doesnt. Oh well I guess thats one more reason to buy a town car at income tax time.
