So ... concept being, it'll shove the piston about if and only if there's a partial system failure between the master cylinder and the combination valve? How utterly and completely useless.

Thats the way it is. Its is more of a your brake line sprung a leak warning. And in some cases, you need to put quite a bit of push into the pedal for it to come on. In theory only, it should reduce the flow of brake fluid out of the sprung line when the piston gets shoved to the low pressure side.

All the more reason to replace that little disaster with appropriate aftermarket valves from Speedway Motors! 2cents: I only hope the '90-up system is a bit more reliable.

I will say, though, that driving a RWD car in snow with NO rear brakes is quite an experience!

It's an attractive idea.

I only set the brake light by screwing up the returning voltage; that says nothing about whether the sensor will show a low voltage at the right time.
